February 2006 – DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, announced the launch of its self-leveling exterior rotary laser (DW076KE). DEWALT engineered this self-leveling rotary laser to provide accuracy, durability and ease of use to the professional contractor. The DW076KE is ideal for general contractors, masons and remodelers for various applications such as site leveling, excavation, grade work, footers, posts, multi-level construction, block layout, establishing benchmarks, elevations and various other outdoor applications.
Accuracy:
The DW076KE is designed with a fully automatic horizontal self-leveling system that provides accuracy at plus or minus 1/8" per 100'. Flashing X and Y LEDs indicate when the laser is leveling itself, once the beams stop flashing the instrument is level. Additionally, users have the option to manually grade applications on a consistent plane by pressing a manual override button for three seconds to disable the self-leveling function. The DW076KE is also equipped with a single speed rotation feature of 600 rpm that maximizes detector readability.
Durability:
For increased durability, a protected rotary head sunshade helps to guard the DW076KE from falling objects on the jobsite. Additionally, DEWALT designed the sunshade with narrow columns to minimize blind spots. The DW076KE is also equipped with a shock isolated leveling mechanism which helps protect the laser if it is dropped or bumped.
Ease of Use:
Users have the option to power the DW076KE with DEWALT 9.6V-18V batteries. This provides users with the freedom to use a variety of batteries to power the unit throughout the day. The DW076KE is also designed with a convenient power button that turns the laser on and off and levels the tool in horizontal mode.
The DW076 kit includes a digital detector, detector clamp, 14.4V DEWALT battery, and a 9.6V-18V battery charger. A DEWALT vehicle battery charger ( DW9109 ) is compatible with the laser and can be purchased separately.
